Great game, need a monster computer to run it
Fun: I bought this for my husband for Valentine's Day, and it's a great program. Not quite a game (it's a real time flight simulator, so it can get rather boring), but a great tool for keeping flight skills and lingo up.

Absolutely Gorgeous Realism
Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Breathtaking landscapes and atmospheric effects, much better than FS9. The nighttime auto traffic even has headlights and taillights. Great Fun, When It Runs
Fun: I got this for Christmas and have had to reinstall it four times since then. This is my first time using a flight simulator and I'm amazed at the realism that the game offers. Microsoft should be ashamed
Fun: My Fun rating of 5 is based upon my use of FS 2004 and what FSX is SUPPOSED to do. Like so many users of earlier versions, I was disappointed and dismayed that this program is all but unusable on my Pentium 4, 2.6 Ghz with 512 Mb of RAM, which exceeds the minimum specified by Microsoft. The time it takes from launching the program until you are taking off on your default flight is at least 5 minutes, and that's with all of the graphics settings at minimal quality...

Must have been developed by script-kiddies!
Very slow. I regret buying this. I suggest holding off until the next version comes out....then buy THIS one. It seems so heavy in the amount of code that has to run that you'd be asleep before it even loaded a single flight on the minimal requirements (with even the lowest amount of detail). As Microsoft has demonstrated before, they drive the hardware market due to careless/sloppy code writing.
I recommend sticking with FS9/FS2004 and downloading scenery etc. Save your money!

Good game, Not great as training aid. Power hog.
Fun: I am a student pilot and am looking for a simulator that will help me in my classes. FSX is NOT that type of simulator. It is a game. Yes, it is fun but I think there is little you can take into a Cessna 172 and use to be a better pilot.
