Great Modem
I was torn between the Motorola 5100 and the D-link 202. I already know the 5100 is good from the reviews but I had to see for myself with the D-link and I'm really glad I did. It was simple to hook up. Make sure your provider get's the MAC address and you will be online in minutes. WIth Adelphia the screen pops up asking for Mac address if you're not using a router so you don't even have to call it in.

Possible problem for Comcast customers
I bought this cable modem when I moved into my new apartment because it would be cheaper than renting one from Comcast in the long run. Solid Solution for Comcast Users\ may need firmware upgrade
So far I've used 3 of these devices in recent Comcast user installs with various SOHO broadband routers and have not had any compatability issues. As a matter of fact, they're solid high speed performers and I've been getting upwards of 9MB down! ...
One issue that may arise for comcast users is the need for a firmware patch if it hasn't already been upgraded.
Beyond that, this is a good alternative to the Motorola surfboard series.

Works fine for me
I've been using this as a Comcast cable modem and it has worked flawlessly for many months. Setup was easy and once done, you can forget it. I have it working with a Linksys wireless router and enjoy a true 4mb internet service throughout my house.
I wanted the Motorola, but it wasn't on sale at the time I needed to get hooked up, so I went with the D-Link. I'm satisfied with it. Does everything a cable modem should.

Not so bad
I updated firmware for using COMCAST cable.
If you use Windows XP SP2, you have to stop firewall.
Because DLink FTP Server cannot send Hitr252.bin file to cable modem.
I wasted an hour to find this problem.
Also Login ID is not "admin/hitron". (PDF manual was wrong)
You should use "dlink/dlink" for web login.
It works fine. That's it.

Lightning Fast & Simple To Use!
I must say my experience with this modem couldn't have been better! Perfect sync was achieved within seconds of attaching the appropriate cables. As for the previous reviewers comments about the modem running hot, I can only say that mine runs 24-7 and it's as cool as a cucumber! D-Link has very good telephone support so if you should run into any problems I'm sure they'll be able to help you out. Just couldn't hold a connection
My toshiba modem broke after a year and this one looked cool so i got it. Worked fine for about a week, then couldn't hold a signal for more than a day. Lost connection then I'd Unplug wait and plug back in. You know the drill. work, stop. over and over.
Replaced it with a motorola surfboard. A full year later and never a single drop. Not the computer, same connection, problem was clearly the modem.

No go with Comcast
I tried two of these modems on my Comcast connection. It would loose the connection (you couldn't ping your default gateway on the comcast network) at random times for as long as 30 seconds at random times.
It was impossible to use this modem with Vonage or other services that expect a reliable connection to function.
I have lot of other D-Link equipment, and typically recommend their hardware, but I would recommend staying away from this modem at least on a Comcast connec...
