I LOVE this mixer!
I got this mixer for Christmas last year, and I absolutely love it! The first thing that's great about it is how stylish it is, and how great it looks on my counter. Quality Machine
This mixer is one quality machine! Most people use the phrase "built like a tank" to describe it, and there's a lot of truth in that. It's the Volvo of stand mixers. It will probably outlast you! I love my mixer and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I'm so glad I bought it. It seemed frivolous at the time even though it was on sale, but it has served me well. An absolutely essential item, that will last you decades
I had my mother's slightly less powerful (than this artisan version) 5 quart mixer, which I used for over a decade till I received the cobalt blue artisan as a wedding gift 15 months ago. To be honest I had always wanted a cobalt blue one to match my kitchen -- my mother's mixer, after over 20 years of regular use (and being shipped twice across the country!), still worked perfectly.

Kitchen Aid has gone way down hill in quality.

I'm certainly no expert, since this is the first stand mixer I've owned, but I've had it for about 6 weeks now and I have really used it. Wanna mash potatoes in ten seconds?
This mixer is a classic, and there are some improvements in this model over the one my mom had. First, the color! While the Kitchen Aid orange is paler than the FrancisFrancis! espresso machine, it's a nice orange. Second, the smaller size of the bowl is a big hit with me.
