controls messed up
okay i get this thing for 60 bucks. It works fine for a little bit, but the controls are all screwde up. if i press fast forward it will rewind and it will pop up the stupid annoying "do you want to add this to the playlist". it will do the the same for rewind. if i press the menu button it will pause the song and go to to the menu or stop it go to to the menu then go back to the song and restart it. charging is another pain. the night before the long trip its on 2 bars go load it up it starts c...

Buyer beware!
I decided to check out the reviews for this while shopping for a replacement MP3 player. I purchased this player at Walmart soon after its release. I paid about $70, which at the time I thought was a good price. I had paid about that for my brothers 2g Sony the year before, by the way the Sony is still going strong and has better battery life than his Samsung P2 8g. Not bad for the $$-but I still miss my Sansa Clip...
I'm a rather big fan of the average Phillips products...I have a pair of noise cancelling headphones & earbuds and both work really great--especially for the money. I figured with a track record like that, an mp3 player was pretty much a given. We purchased a 4gig player for our daughters birthday a few months back and she seems quite satisfied, so I took the plunge and got one for my wife and I.

Decent player, but SMV video format is bad
I have a Disney Mix Max video/music player for one of my kids that we've been using for a while. It plays WMV video and music as you'd expect. While there have been issues with that device, I was hoping that the Philips SA32 would be at least the same. While I have found that the user interface and controls are a bit better on the SA32, the SMV video format is terrible compared to WMV. Both of these players support the same video resolution, but video files previously created for the Mix Max...
