Awesome improvement on sound quality, kills battery though
I have a first generation iPod and now acquired an iPod with video. I record all of my lectures on the first generation iPod with two different devices, one a Griffin and one a Belkin. I can hear the lectures just fine, but have to strain my ears sometime once the lecturer starts pacing. I acquired the Belkin Tunetalk Stereo for iPod Video and wow! what a great difference. I played the recording and the quality is spectacular. I could actually hear the the whole lecture, very clearly.

Not Great For Lengthy Recordings
I recently purchased the Belkin Tunetalk for my 5G Video iPod. I bought it for the purpose of recording lectures. For shorter recordings, the Tunetalk works great. The sound quality is excellent. However, when I try recording anything above 30minutes, the audio starts skipping. What's worse is that after lecture is over (almost an hour of recording), I hit the 'Stop and Save' button, the screen stays on the 'Saving' screen for a couple minutes, and then loads up the 'Voice Memos' screen. Assumin...

One of the best additions for an iPod
I had previously used the Griffin iTalk for the G3 an G4 iPods and while an excellent product, the sound quality was 8 bit and the range was approximately 6 feet.
The Tune Talk is a significant a step as the change from the original iPod to the video iPod.
Sound Quality - Excellent. With the autogain off the recording is completely hiss free. With autogain on some his and distortion is introduced but it is acceptable. Stereo separation is good, excellent when you conside...

Not useful if you want great recordings
Despite reading negative comments in the other reviews, I decided to try the TuneTalk for myself. I thought that it couldn't be that bad. Since I carry my iPod all the time and I carry a small recorder (m-audio Microtrack 24/96), I thought that I could save myself space in my bag by carrying a small mic for the iPod. I'll tell you my personal pluses and minuses:
Pluses:
Set up is very easy. You'll be making recordings very quickly.
The recordings are clear, but...

Works with a new "Classic" iPod
I don't think it mentions it - but it does work fine with a Classic 80gig iPod. Actually it works extremely well for recording college classes. No issues - easy to operate.

Good For Voice, Bad for Live Music
FYI: This microphone is for voice/lectures only, or line in recording such as from a stereo, its not for live music. Audio I recorded with it was often mildly distorted. Also, battery life is only an hour. So its not a good choice for bootleggers.

Not for iPod classic-- in spite of Belkin's website
I bought one of these gizmos on the basis of Belkin's inclusion of this product in the list of those compatible with the new iPod classic.
The recording and external-power functions work. Nothing else does. The button and LED don't work and it won't sync through the Mini USB connector.
It shouldn't be difficult for Belkin to fix this problem, but for now, don't buy this item for use with an iPod classic.

Gotta Have It!
Awesome product - couldn't be easier to use. I recommend getting the iPod AC adapter too, which plugs right in the bottom of the Belkin TuneTalk. I use it to record my Acoustic Solo gigs. I record directly into it through RCA jacks out of my PA (You'll need an RCA to 1/8" mini adapter)and I've recorded using the built-in Microphones. Both are great, and I'm still experimenting with it. I just purchased an Audio Technica Stereo Condenser Mic and a 25 foot headphone extension cable, (with 1/8" ...

Excellent sound, wish there was a white one
This microphone attachment for the iPod video exceeded my expectations in the sound quality of the recording. I've heard recordings from other such devices, and figured this would be just as noisy and tinny. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear recordings worthy of a studio microphone.
Of course, I have a white iPod, and this only comes in black. C'est la vie.
A downside of the iPod and not the microphone, is that the recordings are made uncompressed, which takes a lo...

Best one out there for opera singers
As a opera singer looking to record my lessons in a small studio, I have been very pleased with this recorder. While my voice is loud, and so is the piano, by changing the settings to low I rarely have any interference noise, and the quality of the recording is near CD quality!
I don't write reviews, but I wanted to let any other singers know that I was very pleased and I highly recommend this recorder over the others (a friend at my conservatory has another one for the iPod Video th...
