Great bang for your buck
I purchased the Vizio SV420XVT to replace my not-so-old Vizio VX42L, a TV that I had nothing but problems with. My first VX had severe backlight bleeding, and the replacement unit developed audio dropouts, so I decided that perhaps I should abandon that model altogether and upgrade to Vizio's 120Hz model.

Simply the best HDTV I have ever owned!!!
if you are looking for the biggest bang for your buck television and you want a 42" look no further this is simply the greatest HD I have ever owned I can go on and on about it Bluray movies look completely spectacular in 1080p full HD resolution the images are so crisp and look like they are popping off the screen its almost too real I have sony bravia surround sound home theater system hooked up to this set as well and I could not ask for more also I am a gamer and let me tell you PS3 in full ...

XBOX 360/Blue Ray connected
I bought this TV for my XBOX 360 and Blue Ray player. They both look awesome. I've played the latest games on it, GoW2 and Fable 2. The refresh rate on the TV make the games look entirely fluid. The Blue Ray looks just as good as it does at Best Buy with their Sony TV and Sony player set up. The TV comes with an HDMI cord, which is nice to have. The set up is very fast and stupid guy-proof. You won't be sorry if you buy this TV for your XBOX.

awesome
I bought this tv mainly for gaming and thats where this tv shines. The full HD is amazing and the 120ghz doubles the frame rate which is great. Overall, If you play a lot of video games this is the one to go for. Gears of War 1 and 2 especially are beautiful.

Good TV for the money -- works with rabbit ears!
I have had this TV for two weeks and so far it is great. (I got it at Costco for $996.)
Once I got the HD cable from Charter, etc., and tinkered a bit with the settings, the Vizio looked as good at home as in the store. Really! Even straight out of the box, it looked excellent!
(And you & a friend can just pull it out of the box, connect up the cable/antenna + power supply cord and watch. The stand is already installed. Nice.)
I would give it 5 stars but for...

Vizio XVT Clear Picture, Good Sound
My mother purchased one of these from another retailer, (This is her 1st HDTV) and I set it up for her today. She currently doesn't have any true HD content, but all of the SD content through both component and composite sources is very good quality. Vizio XVT 42" Review
Just Purchased the New Vizio XVT 120hz LCD. All I can say is that I am truly impressed. I was very skeptical buying a generic brand name LCD but look no more cause this TV is just as good as any Samsung or Sharp. I'm still all for Plasma's because of the better black levels and no blurring during motion scene's though.
This TV doesn't solicit any wow factors but it will suit its purpose. I bought this as a 2nd TV for playing PC and Console games and haven't had any problems. I even hook...

I bought an refurbished Vizio 42'' last Feb 2008. It's still playing Great. I also bought through Vizio a 5 yr warranty for $199. You can't go wrong with Tiger Direct. It came perfect in the box & looked wonderful. I bought Yamaha 5.1 surround sound with Toshbia HD CD player. The day I bought it they were doing away with HD players. I wanted to cry. But, everything plays Great on the TV. I haven't wrote in a while. Just wanted to write again on how please we are.

Amazing deal at the price !!
All the previous posts of customer reviews are accurate and very helpful. Truly an amazing deal for a 42" with spectacular view and crispy images. I have checked the quality of Sony, Samsung and other competitive brands. Visio has equivalent quality in lesser unbeatable price. I got a further $100 discount when I bought it from Dell website. I would definitely recommend buying this TV if SONY bravia is out of your budget.
Cons : The remote control seems a bit creepy.

Great TV, but way overpriced at Amazon
I've been looking at several HD TV's, and this Vizio XVT 42" SV420 is incredible. The 120Hz makes sports and gaming action so smooth compared to lesser models out there. Only con I can see, is buying it via Amazon (current list on Amazon, $1636.99 with used ones being around $`1200. This model is available via several other stores (Circuit City, Sam's Club, etc) with a list price between $999 and $1099.
