Very Good Picture Quality, Inferior Tuner Sensitivity
I live in a "fringe" area for OTA reception in a densely wooded neighborhood 30 miles from the cities and have a rooftop antenna with a pre-amplifier system. I currently own Hitachi, Sony and Olevia TVs with built in ATSC tuners and find the Toshiba 19AV500U has the most trouble maintaining good reception from several of the HD channels. I've tried hooking it up to the other antenna leads in the house and results were the same so I've concluded the tuner sensitivity is not as good as my other ...

Works on my cable without a box!

Previous problems mentioned inaccurate
This is in response to the previous post about the aspect ratio problems. I just got this TV and there are 5 different picture ratios that can be used on this tv and they are changed very easily they have their own button on the remote. So either their tv was defective or they just didnt take time to glance at the manual. Great tv highly recommended.

Great television
I bought this Toshiba about a month ago from Circuit City and am very pleased with it. The picture clarity is beautiful in all angles. You can even adjust the tilt from the back stand which I find very convenient that the other brands didnt have. It is also very slim and light weight so you can easily move it around to clean. I bought it at $349.00 which is a great deal for all that you get.

Beautiful picture but like many 19&20 sets it has a 1610 ratio not HDTV 169. This means that it overscans or crops off about 12 inch of image on the left and right on widescreen transmissions. Id rather have small black bars on top & bottom andsee the whole picture but this cant be selected on this set. Impressive Small TV

Wonderful 19" TV
I ordered this TV over a month ago and have been very satisfied since day one. I ordered from Amazon on a Friday and it arrived three days later on Monday. Setup was very easy and the built in tuner found 45 channels (about 15 are analog). We use a 30 year old antenna strapped to the chimney and the picture is great! I strongly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a small TV.

I'b buy it again ...
I purchased this TV because of its size I had a specific place it needed to fit and because of my familiarity w the brand. The picture quality is outstanding and the sound quality very nice. The only element in which Im disappointed is that when changing channels with the remote there is a delay between entering the choice and the TV switching over. Im just too used to immediate gratification I guess.

Great HD Picture Quality
This was my first ever HDTV purchase and I have been extremely pleased with the picture quality for HD programming. It makes a great bedroom TV Ive been spending a lot of time in there watching football! The one problem Ive experienced so far is whenswitching from HD stations to SD stations the screen will gradually turn white and I need to turn it off then back on to get it to work again. Id recommend this TV to anyone looking for an affordable way to experience high definition.
