This one DOES do 1080P
One of the reviews for this item will make you pause before you buy it. The problem is, 2 of the reviews for this item on Amazon.com are for DIFFERENT MODELS. I own this one. This one is beautiful. It has THREE (not two) HDMI inputs and does accept full 1080P, even 1080P/24 (from a BlueRay player). This picture is beautiful. Great set.

Great Picture - best in the store
I bought a ->
Philips 47PFL7422D 47" 1080p LCD HDTV
And I will say the set is better than I expected. I was in a Major Store with about 40 TV Sets on one wall. This TV Jumped right out at us and we walked right up to it. Stepped back for 5 minutes and then looked at all the other Sets in the 1500.00 price range 1080P and nothing was close.
I don't know what the guy is talking about when he says the set is not black enough. That Perfect Pixel HD Engine is doing so...

Superb Value
This LCD is a winner. Cannot beat the price/performance ratio. I bought it at popular warehouse store for $1699. This unit has 3 HDMI inputs - rare for that price point. The component video inputs do full HD - 1080p. If you do research you'll find that MANY LCD's do NOT carry 1080p over component. This is particularly important for Xbox 360 owners since there's no HDMI out on the non-elite models so 1080p through component is critical.

Ok, let me start by saying I've never written a review before - but owning this TV compelled me to let you all know what to expect. I regretted buying this thing within a few hours of owning it. nice LCD
Well, I did not buy it from Amazon, but I paid about the same price. I do like the 2 HDMI inputs. Overall, it is a good LCD. My HD signal from my Dish network comes in crystal clear. It has plenty of other plugs in the back for my Home Theater receiver, PS3, and dvd player. The only problem I am having is connecting my laptop to the LCD. Maybe I just bought the wrong type of wires.

Read the specs carefully
Beware the fine print. I purchased a Philips 47" LCD (different model number, from another vendor) that was trumpeted as "Full HD - 1080p" on the box in 3" lettering and all the literature. When I got it home, there was an asterisk on the spec sheet INSIDE the box. After an hour of online research and a call to Philips tech support, they finally confirmed that the display panel was 1080p, but the system would only accept a 1080i signal. Don't buy Philips LCD TV Unless You just Want to Test and Return
If you think that Philips is a good value, think again. I purchased a Philips TV with 1080p claim on the box and a few months later found out that my TV wouldn't support the true 1080p video (my PS3 with Blue Ray DVD playback) and found out it only support 1080i only in the fine print in user manual(remember there's big price difference between 1080i and 1080p).

Great TV at a great cost
The Philips 47PFL7422 is an excellent tv in all respects (I actually own the 7432, which has ambilight - this is the only difference between the two TVs). Though I would not consider myself an extremely picky buyer, I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this TV, and I believe it is the best marriage of quality and cost.
