Better than my Dell at work
I recieved this monitor today. Hook up was real easy. All cables included, even the DVI cable. I have a Dell 19" at work and couldn't stand my 17" ViewSonic CRT anymore at home. Decided to spend the money. Picture quality is great, better than the 19" Dell (about 6 months old). Don't know why, could be the response time of 8ms.
Had to run a manual install because I was running XP, but the instructions were clear and it went without a hitch.

Excellent monitor, typical Viewsonic quality
I purchased this monitor about two weeks ago and have been extremely impressed. No dead pixels, very bright screen (yet highly adjustable), and 8 ms (not 20 ms) response time is fast enough even to play games, though I bought the unit mostly to decrease eye strain when reading web content.
Speaking of which ... I only use this display with ClearType. Anybody using an LCD should seriously consider ClearType, as it seems to improve readability of text. If you're an internet news ju...

Great monitor: big screen, sharp pictures and clear text!
This review was written based on the following configuration:
- HP desktop with an Intel Pentium D930 with Win XP Pro and 1GB memory
- Using the DVI cable (supplied by Viewsonic) from an EVGA FX5500 AGP 256MB video card.
- Running at the best resolution prescribed by the monitor (1280 x 1024).
- No monitor or text-enhancing software has been applied.

Beware RMA
Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Fine monitor at a good price
Cons: Immense problems with ViewSonic replacement / return experience when a line of pixels failed. Read the other RMA reviews - they are not joking! Newegg - manufacturer warranty performance is unaccceptable, consider removing the brand from sale!

Wow - Better than expected!
I was worried about people saying dead pixel this and ghosting that. Just to let you know - some of these reviews are for the older model. Model I purchased: 8ms, 500:1, 1280x1024 Native, analog and DVI. I had zero dead pixels, showed up in 3 days (counting Sunday) and I paid for 7-9, came in original packaging which worred me at first, but it shipped great. Used the DVI, set to native, and it is the clearest picture I have ever viewed. Half Life 2 was perfect at Native, no ghosting, etc. ...

Good value
Excellent display for the price. With built in speakers and narrow profile fits my application(CAD) well. Response time (20Msec.) may be a bit slow for some gamers.

Poor reliability
I have had several of these monitors. I use a two-monitor set-up.
-
The backlight on the first burned out one month out of warrantee. ViewSonic would not replace the first monitor- fair enough as it was out of warrantee. I purchased a replacement. When it came, the screen was blue, and the color could not be adjusted. ViewSonic sent a replacement which had a green screen, and again, the color could not be adjusted. They were unable to find another VA912b, so they sent a different ...

Not sure that this is a great product .
The thing is I like the display and everything , but the first monitor when I got had a bad pixel in the middle . So I understand it happens , return it and got another one same model . Two days later the same thing happen , and two more days I got one more bad pixel . So I am returning this one as well ,but no exchange this time . Just not worth it . Plus you can not adjust it , it stays only in one position .

Viewsonic VA912B 19" LCD Monitor
I love this monitor!! I use a Dell at work and this monitor has just as beautiful a picture, if not better. It is clear and the colors are great. I am very pleased with this monitor.
