another winner from Linksys
This is another winning product from Linksys. I bought it to share my monitor, keyboard and mouse between my two PCs. My current KVM switch (a manual monstrosity with a plethora of cables) did not live up to my expectations. Each time I switched the KVM, one of my PCs (with Win 98) would complain that the keyboard and mouse were disconnected, and then proceed to freeze! I also had ghosts on my monitor because of the inferior cables supplied with the unit. But the with Linksys, there are no ghost...

Does NOT work with multimedia keyboards
Great product, good price. Video signal suffered no degradation.
However, my Logitech multimedia keyboard and Microsoft Intellimouse do not work properly. The extra buttons are not recognized. Linksys tech support states there is no workaround and this kvm is only meant to work with standard keyboards and mice. If you have a multimedia keyboard and mouse with extra buttons, steer away from this kvm!

Works Great!!! Had No Problems
This item works great and has 1920 X 1440 resolution. Installed within 2 minutes and had both my server and workstation up and running after reboot(even though not required). I would suggest this item if you think that you are only going to have 2 computers running at once. If you feel like you are going to have more than 2 computers(or possibly in the future have more), I would looking into a real KVM switch. This was a quick and painless solution to my small problem...Little money and need...

Perfect for the home user
I have used many KVMs in server rooms. These industrial-strength boxes are big and expensive because they're designed to allow you to control large number of servers.
Another feature of server-oriented KVMs is that they give an audible "chirp" when you switch to a new machine. That's helpful in noisy server rooms when you are switching between servers that have desktops that look mostly alike.
But when I wanted a KVM to switch between 2 PCs at home, I wanted something small...

Would not buy this KVM
I was extremely surprised at how poor this KVM performed in my simple home setup. I have 2 ps2 machines (XP, RedHat9). I bought this and had to return it in one week because of the problems I had. First, I could never get any of my mice (Microsoft Optical Intellimouse, Microsoft Wheelmouse, and Logitech mouse) to be recognized. So, I just used the monitor and keyboard functionality for 7 days. While the switching between machines worked as advertised, I had keyboard problems. The KVM caused t...

Great if you don't have a keyboard with other functions
I bought this a couple of years ago and it was working well. Until I upgraded my keyboard to one of the ones with a couple of extra functions on it, like volume control, play/pause etc. It's a brand new logitech keyboard. Oh, and my mouse with forward and back buttons on it also fails to work correctly with this. Oh, and if you want to use USB devices this won't work for you at all.

Suspiciously missing specs...
I haven't bought this product. But I am researching various KVM switches on the market because I need to buy one to to share KV&M between my desktop and laptop. Two very important features for a KVM product are (1) What is the highest refresh frequency for a given display resolution, and (2) Is Hot-swap capability supported? So I checked the specs for this product on the Linksys web page. Surprisingly, the web page mentions only the highest resolution (1920 x 1440) several times but makes no m...
