What good is a KVM that locks up?
We bought this KVM to switch between two Dell PCs, one Optiplex GX620 and the other an older Optiplex model number unknown. It seemed like exactly what we needed, a nice, simple switch with a big button and no special key sequences required to switch between two machines that share a single monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse.
Unfortunately it doesn't work reliably. Sure, it will switch a few times, maybe even a dozen, before locking up but for us it ALWAYS locked up eventually. When ...

Works great
Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Works. USB Connectors. All my keyboard keys are recognized through the KVM. Works fine with my Mac too. Cheap with the rebate. Works fine with my 1440x900 resolution on both my Mac and PC. Not ugly??
Cons: No keyboard shortcut to switch computers - have to press the button on the KVM with my toe, lol. It doesn't constantly power th...

Review on IOGEAR KVM
This model KVM works with all operating systems, or so I was told by the IOGEAR help desk. Well, I don't know about all, but it does work with Microsoft Vista and NT. It seems to work just fine being able to toggle between my desktop and laptop. My only complaints are: there is no audio plug-in; and there is no shortcut command on the keyboard. You have to press a button on the KVM itself, which can be a pain depending on where you locate it.

Works with single USB wireless keyboard and mouse
I'll be honest, I actually haven't used it (the GCS42U)yet, but I called IOGEAR tech support because I was having trouble with the I did buy (GCS32U). It turns out the GCS32U doesn't work well with a wireless Keyboard and Mouse that uses a single USB connection. They state that this (GCS42U) does. Hope this helps someone to not go through the pain I did...

Great switch
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Easy to install and works with the Microsoft 4GC-00002 Silver/Black 102 Normal Keys Wireless Ergonomics Laser Desktop 4000 Mouse. Just shut both computers off and connect the wireless usb port to the keyboard plug and turn things on. Even the software worked correctly.
Cons: ZERO
Other Thoughts: Worked gre...

Good Value, Good Job
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Worked right away. I used it to connect my Xbox 360 to the same monitor that my computer was hooked up to. Running my computer at 1680X1050 and video quality looks good.
Cons: Had to buy a female/female vga adapter to hook 360 up to the switch.
Other Thoughts: The keyboard works with the 360 too.

Good Value
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Switch is a good value, is very easy to use.
Cons: When using this with my new Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista Service Pack 1 all other USB devices like extermal dick drives and thrumb drives are not recognized, comes up with a message that it device has malfunctioned. If the KVM swith is disconnected the other device works just fine. Not a big...

Great option for USB peripherals
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Nice looking, push button switch works for my particular setting, decent quality cabling
Cons: I am used to keystroke switching with my other two Iogear KVMs, but I've adapted
Other Thoughts: I have been very pleased with Iogear switches, this being my third. I use this one for switching between a Windows...

Dell Vista Keyboard issue
Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: Simple design. Easy to set up. No keystrokes to remember. Video cable and USB cable combined avoids cable mess usually associated with KVMs.
Cons: Keyboard would not work with Dell Vostro running Vista. Mouse and Video work fine with both Vista and XP Pro. Slight initial keyboard lag on Windows XP pro machine.

Small, Quick, Simple and Effective
Tech Level: average Ownership: 1 week to 1 month Pros: The device was easy to set up. Basically plug in and go. The small size makes it nice for sitting right under my monitor for easy access to the button for switching towers. Minimal to no delay in switching over controls.
Cons: I found I had to start one machine and let it boot up before starting the second so they wouldn't have issues. This unit can not be mounted.
