Shipped product different from order
Ordered the HP Q5949X (high capacity) toner cartridge and received the HP Q5949A (standard capacity) toner cartridge. Based on the price paid I'm assuming they listed the item part number incorrectly on the web. Fair price for the Q5949A, but would have been a great price for the Q5949X. Received the shipment in a timely manner.

Be sure you get an "X" and not an "A"
I, too, received the lower capacity 49A instead of the promised 49X. Four times! Three by Amazon and once by Target. No amount of explanation by me could persuade them to check that large "49A" on the package (see my image, above) before boxing it and mailing it to me. On the fifth attempt, by phone, Amazon simply refused to try again. Yet, as of today, the product is still offered for sale at the attractive $71.99 price.

Amazon screwed up here, might be fixed now
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I ordered the 5949X, Amazon sent the 5949A. I sent it back, they sent another 5949A. The third time, the rep told me Amazon's SKU is probably messed up on this item. Take your chances ordering this here, but I would recommend ordering somewhere else for this, because Amazon has had difficulty managing the inventory info properly on this item.

Amazon messed up
They listed the 49X and they shipped the 49A(standard capacity), so like everyone else who bought this product, it is really the standard capacity toner that you are going to get. You may get it at a lower cost elsewhere check around.....

OUCH! whose brainchild was this? It has no use ever being made or produced!
The 49A cartridge gives you about 2,500 pages of print.
The 49X gives you about 6,000 page of print, for ONLY about 4 dollars more in price!
The 49A costs about 33.5 cents per page printed.
The 49X costs about 12 cents per page printed.
Why would anyone buy the 49A cartridge and pay almost 3X as much per page of print?
Where I work, I made sure our supply folks order ONLY the 49X cartridges.

3rd Grade Math
DISenchanted needs to check their elementary school math. 33 cents per page?? And this person is making purchasing decisions? OMG!
Based on today's prices:
Q5949A: $64.78/2500 pages = 2.6 cents per page
Q5949X: $104.15/6000 pages = 1.7 cents per page

Brand Name vs. Recycled?
I am all for recyling items for our environment, however, I have had several "bad" incidents of low quality recycled toner cartridges. Because of this, I know buy on the name brand cartridge to fit the printer. This vender provided me a name brand cartridge at the best price.

What could be special about toner?
Toner cartridges are so amazingly overpriced, you'd think the industry was being run by petrolium, health insurance, or cellular communications executives. Whenever I have to reorder one of these cartridges, I get that same feeling when I get when I pay my health insurance premium or fill up for neary $4/gallon.

Straightfoward Black Laser Cartridge
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Product works fine, but a bit expensive. I guess it is cheaper than the office supply stores. HP OEM product, don't use a no-name cartridge and be sure to send your old one back for recycling!

Blacks not black enough
Buy.com said this was a genuine HP cartridge, and the box did too, but when I put it in, it prints everything dark gray. I'm used to crisp black text and that's not what I'm getting.
