Pros: I have had this drive for about 3 years and it has served me well, its been fast, quiet and reliable.

Cant Beat this drive

Pros: for the money and preformance.. you cant beat this.... have put this in many different computers i have built... wouldnt stray form this drive... have not had a single issue... had most of them runnin on 3 years and not so much as a hiccup

Quiet, Fast, 3 yr Warranty
I have an aging win2k pro machine that has the C: drive on an 8 G partitian. The Sims did the computer in - we are constantly struggling with disk space. So, I bought this beauty and downloaded a wonderful utility called Casper (not the demo version, downloads.com). 2 hours after I opened the box, I had the computer booted off the new drive, using an exact copy of the old, but onto 30 G partitions. Great Drive but lacks hardware
The Western Digital Special Edition is a great drive. It is fast and quiet. There were no bad sectors on the initial scan of the disk, as I have found on previous disk drives. The one drawback with this disk as purchased from Buy.Com is that only the Disk drive came. Western Digital's web site indicates that it should come with mounting screws, a cable and installation software. Pros: I have for over 24 years been a very active supporter of WD drives. Until recently that is. I have a great deal of experience with computer hardware, WD has continued to lower my expectations for their products. There are no PROs for their current product offerings. 3 year warranty is a joke.

To make explicit what the other reviewers say: This is not a retail item. This purchase is for the drive only. Why is this not made clear? Aside from the reviewers, no where in the product description does it say that you are paying for the drive only. I wanted those cables (found in retail boxes)! BTW, the list price of $160 that is quoted above is for a retail box product a year or two ago. In no way is a 80 gig HD currently worth 160. Look around if you don't believe me.
