7200 RPM Performance in a 5400 RPM Drive
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: Before buying this drive, I spent a lot of time reading reviews.
One finding that all of the reviews had in common, was the discovery that despite the Scorpio Blue drive being 5400 RPM with 8MB Cache, it actually performed nearly identical in speed to the Scorpio Black 7200 RPM 16MB Cache line of drives.
Other benefits of the Scorpio Blue vs. Scorpio Black are lower power consumption, lower operat...

Complete Test Results - Mac/Pc
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: What makes this drive fast is the TWO platters. It's also 9.5mm in height.
We were able to test this unit, the Seagate 7200.4 320gb and WD's 7200 Black. The 7200's have 16mb cache, this has 8. Ok results varied! This is good. OS X performed faster on this 5400rpm drive than Vista Ult 64(same MBP). Once we let Vista index the drives we no...

Great upgrade for the MacBook Aluminum...
I bought the new MacBook Aluminum (13" - Late 2008), with the 160GB hard drive, which quickly fell short to my storage demands. While on the market for an upgrade hard drive, I came across the WD 500GB Scorpio Blue and hesitant at first (I could not find anywhere a post which would guarantee that it would work with my MB), I decided to go for it. Upon receiving my hard drive, I ran the Time Machine on my MB, switched the OEM hard drive for this beauty (it took about 15 mins.), installed Leopard ...

Joining the Choir - It's the Goodest
PLUSES: It's large, quiet, fast. It easily and perfectly fits where a 20-40-60-80 GB, 2.5" SATA drive would, including in a PS3.
MINUSES: You may be able to find larger drives but not everyone may need more.
Of course, it's no longer 'the biggest' but I knew that a couple of months ago, when I upgraded my PS3. I also figured that, since I have no plans of storing a movie library, 320 GB would carry me for the next couple of years. After that, it's likely that I'd be buying ...

Installed this into my PS3 and works Great!
I've installed this as a upgrade into my PS3 and it works Great!!!!
If you were not aware Sony allows you to do this without voiding the warranty!
So far, no issues and I took out my original 80GB and put it in a portable USB enclosure. The enclosure I bought is this one:

My Macbook is now Pimpified. Superb Drive.
My Macbook Pro recently gained a little pooch, those jeans we bought just a few months ago started getting tight, and I had to let out the belt a few notches. So I started hunting for a new drive.
Being a faithful WD Customer, I decided I would give their internal laptop drive a try. I've had several other products of theirs that haven't screwed me over yet. I've had this drive a good month and a half, and I haven't had any troubles in terms of crashing or weird behavior. althou...

Great drive for the MacBook Pro
Got this drive as the capacity of the OEM drive provided by Apple for my MacBook Pro 17" was nearing it's capacity. I order a Deckcell USB 2.0 to SATA + IDE (2.5", 3.5", 5.25") Cable with Power Adapter from Amazon at the same time, so moving the data from the internal drive to the new drive was a breeze and painless. After loading the OS, and having the OSX installation process move the data, installation of the drive itself was done (a little cumbersome, but not too bad) and this new drive is p...

Upgrade your PS3 for real!!
Theres no reason to upgrade to 320 as its only twice the highest available PS3 from factory of 160gb. I however upgraded my 40GB PS3 to a 500GB drive(You only see about 465GB once its formatted). From the 80Gb to the 160GB version there is a $100 difference. INSTEAD get the 80GB and a 500GB drive for about $120 and get 3 times the capacity of the 160GB. All you need is Software update on a mem stick or external drive connected to PS3 to load the system software. I used my iPod's drive feature...

PS3 upgrade and then some...
Hi all... as some of the other reviewers have also done, I bought this SATA drive specifically to upgrade my 80GB PS3. And I have to say that although many people have said it is an "overkill" to go larger than 250 or even 320, after installing it a few weeks ago and putting everything from personal pics to ripped mp3s, I now have the ultimate 1-stop shop for almost all of my multimedia needs.
Having a pretty decent TV and home theater set-up, I transferred my ENTIRE library of mus...

Why not use the WD 500gb...IT WORKS!!
The most current reviews on upgrading the PS3, people are installing a 320gb hard drive or smaller. To each is own but why not go for the 500gb? I've purchase the WD Western Digital Wd5000bevt Hdd Mob 500gb 5400rpm Sata, and I've had no problems. Granted, I didn't purchase this hard on Amazon but it's definitely a great buy. If you are upgrading your PS3 hard drive, make sure you follow your manual to the T!! Enjoy!!
