Great Portable Drive At a Great Price
Wow... Purchased this drive to back up my notebook and it was super fast! No power adapter needed just plug n Play. Also the drive seems to be of great quality with it's light weight all metal casing. Luv it!

Light, quite, affordable
I bought this drive for additional storage for my laptop. I wasn't too impressed with the 5400 RPM's, but for 55.00 I couldn't do better.
Pros: Very durable case, lightweight, transports easily, bus powered, plug and play, pre-formatted, USB 2.0, very quiet, great quality overall.
Cons: 5400 RPM, had to re-format to make NTFS (came as 3 FAT32 partitions), will not work with USB extension cable or hub (requires a lot of USB power).

Great item for my laptop
Fast shipping and great item as advertised. Plug n play without any problem. Use Partition Magic to create 3 partitions with NTFS format and started using it as a second hard drive for my laptop. Great for backing up and runs cool all the time. A+++

Great Value but needs power from USB port!
This drive is easy to use and great value. It did not work when I plugged into the USB port om my Dell Latitude D600. Apparantly the drive needs more power than the USB port provides. Tech support sucks. I was placed on hold for a very ling time (this is After the phone was answered eventually!) and the tech told me to plug in an external power adapter! There is NOWHERE in this drive to plug in an external adapter. He then said someone will call me back - they never did.

Some USB ports don't support these units. I have tried several brands of laptops and desktops, and it seems to be about 50-50 as to whether a particular PC will recognize the hard drive. If it doesn't work on your machine, you are stuck with it. IOGear will not provide refunds or exchanges. Their tech support is worse than not having any tech support at all. Really good product
It shows up as 3 different drives, that way I can use it as different sources, one for music, one for data, etc., You can format it as ONE drive. It's a really great product, I recommend it. Use the USB wire/cable it came with, I tried a different cable, and it was not reading the drive.

Back-up for PC & Carry on for travel
I have been completely satisfied with my IOGear 80 GB portable hard drive. It loaded up the required software when connected and it is small enough to carry it when traveling. I do not take my computer anymore when I travel internationally. You can always find a computer in the airport or the hotel.

Nice Replacement
Ok, I know its hard to find a good size external harddrive which you can carry around with plenty of space. To balance HDD size, physical size, weight and the price factor this IOGear has it all and is perfect.
I am extremely happy with this love the ease of use and awesome thing is as soon as i plugged it in my pc it gave me 3 partitioned drive istead of 1 big one so i can organize my stuff easily.

an AMAZING DEVICE. doesn't need a power supply. stores ALL OF your files perfectly for easy access and use. make sure you use the provided cord. a longer USB cord doesn't provide enough power from the USB port to power up the device.

Great External Hard Drive
Ok,to begin:
Pros:
a)Very and I mean VERY slim and light weight. It is lighter than the 80 gig ipod and slimmer.
b)Super fast. Faster than my Lacie external hard drive
c)very inexpensive
d)plug and play
e)no external power source needed (see cons)
f)works PERFECT with macs.
Cons:
a)The hard drive is fragmented into 3 separate drives. 2 with 35 gigs and 1 with 10 gigs.
b)will not work with some DELL laptops. that wasn't my problem cause i don't have PC, i have mac. To fix this problem, ...
