The upgrade requirements aren't mentioned here, but according to Adobe's website you can upgrade "from Acrobat 6.x, 7.x or 8.x Standard".

adobe is unbelievably bad
I had read a number of complaints about Adobe, but I just expereienced firsthand their unbelievably bad customer service. I have the Acrobat 8 standard, and everything worked fine. Then Adobe pushed out an urgent update, and the adobe pdf printer now fails. A contact to their customer service contact just returns a "free support for your product has expired" email. Good Update
Not a bad update. I needed the update for the Outlook 2007 pdf conversions. My version 7 didn't work with Outlook. Overall, I'm happy with the product. I still like to use PaperPort to combine PDF and other formats - much easier.

Acrobat 9 is just fine
I went from version 6 to 9 in one jump. I like the interface better, much cleaner. Have had no problems and it loads all of the more recently created PDF's without squaking at me about newer features. Not an essential upgrade for me but glad i did it.

Got this upgrade because my husband purchased a newer computer, which wouldn't accept the Adobe 6 original. Works fine.

Well done
Does everything I need. I upgraded from 7 to 8 but went back to 7 because I did not find the searching functions as useful. In particular, when running a word search in 7 or 9, the side window pops up showing all phrases with that word. I use that a lot, but could not get that to work with version 8. Version 9 gives me back the search capabilities I had in 7.

Needed an upgrade for work.
Version 9 works as good as 8, uses a bit more resources on the PC, and seems to be an unnecessary upgrade for the standard version when compared to 8 Standard. Limited backward compatibility (to encourage more upgrade$), but works better than the version 6 that this particular install replaced.

Every home office must have!
Bought the upgrade since 6.x does not work with Vista OS. Works great, as expected. If you work from home this is a must have!
