Great Navigator
I purchased this program with GPS recently to use with my laptop as a navigator on road trips. I have used it on a couple short trips so far, and it works great. Getting ready to use it on a long, 7,000+ mile road trip. Easy to use, easy to change course for side trips. I like the display of all restaurants and motels at any given spot. Great price - approximately $50. I saw this same product at Office Depot for $75. I like it better than a Garmin GPS I purchased a couple years ago for $50...

Not perfect, but still a great product
Only a couple of complaints. First, the documentation and help for this are horribly inadequate, causing a serious learning curve in order to figure out all the features. Be prepared for a lot of trial and error before you can quickly and easily navigate with this thing. You're on your own.
Second, the audio is VERY low. I have my laptop volume as far up as it can possibly go, and I still cannot understand the navigation voice over highway noise. And I drive a brand new car that ...

I'm not rating functionality of this product, but just trying to warn anybody who expects to receive (as it's announced here) "sleek GPS receiver that plugs into USB port of your laptop PC". This statement is wrong, because what is attached to the Streets and Trips 2009 is not a new u-Blox 5 chip-based GPS receiver (pictured on Amazon page), but an old GPS-500 receiver by Pharos (the same included with 2007 and 2008). That's what I got from Amazon two days ago.

Needed to update from older MS software version and GPS unit. Both ads on Amazon and partner site showed 2009 box with the LATEST GPS unit. The Amazon writeup clearly indicated an update to the GPS unit was included in the 2009 release. Received purchase from partner site and although box indicated 2009 version the GPS unit was NOT the same design as the one shown in the Amazon and partner sites. Streets and Trips?
If this is an improvement over previous versions, than the previous versions must have not worked at all. This software is awful! The voice prompt does not work unless you press the space bar, and the voice is terribly robotic, and cannot pronounce abbreviations. For instance, "turn left on SR52" comes out as "turn left on Senior 52!" Or "take ramp on right to U.S. 104" becomes "take ramp on right to us 104." The choppy voice prompt is just one downfall. What a POS
I bought MSft S&T2008 as my wife and I are retired and we travel extensively in our RV. I could have bought a Garmin, TomTom GPS etc but I didn't want to keep track of another piece of equipment. It's Even Better
I just upgraded to the 2009 version. It works great with XP. I like the atomatic reroute feature, so far. Too bad the unit isn't wireless too. Microsoft is still using the cheap connection cord. They ought to lose two stars for the cheap cord.

Pros: Excellent bang for the buck GPS tool for your PC / Virtual Machine. Very accurate and sensitive USB2 receiver, even locates you inside of buildings!
Very impressive mix of features for the price point. Great alternative for business or road trips and you have a laptop sparing the expense of buying an expensive windshield GPS.
