Always dependable!
Honestly, this lower drawer is more dependable than the printer itself (which I also love). Adds tremendous functionality to the printer. A great addition to a great printer family.

Pros: I have a MFC-8860DN and had to print for about 3 weeks without having the extra legal tray and it was a real pain...Now that i have the extra tray printing is a breeze...I would definitely recommend getting this additional tray if you have to print different size paper frequently...

Excellent addition to my copier
The lower additional tray for the Brother copier (mine is a MFC-8XXX multi-function)is the perfect addition for those who use two different sizes of paper often. In my case, I use legal paper as much as letter size, and changing the tray gets to be a pain. This lower tray simply adds by lifting the MFC machine and placing it on top!! Lower tray for Brother HL-5250DN
I enjoy the added convenience that the additional tray has given to me. I print large packages of documents and use both letter and legal sized paper. When printing (I have a Brother HL-5250DN Printer) using the second tray, it will automatically choose the correct paper size to print on. I love this feature. Works perfectly. Good 2nd paper option, but little expensive.
I got my printer as a reconditioned unit, so this tray was relatively expensive. It was still worth it as a time saver. With this 2nd tray, I don't have to open the paper tray just to print on different paper. The Multi-Use paper option works, but that requires me to go over to the printer to open the MP tray door, and set the paper correctly, and to remove any extras I didn't need, after I print.

Life is so much easier with a second tray to hold legal size paper, rather than empty and switch that we had been doing. A good investment

Doesn't work with MFC-8480DN Legal size
This item is advertised to work with the Brother MFC-8480DN printer. But I found the instructions were inadequate and it doesn't work with Legal size for our MFC-8480DN printer.
Brother needs to really do QA on this before they start making claims it works with their printers.

Easy to do
I ordered the 2nd paper tray for my MFC-8640N from Amazon - which is easy enough but it arrived very quickly and bing bang it was installed and working great. The price was great too.

Excellent addition to multifunction printer
Very easy to install and setup. The printer unit will still signal when tray one is empty but will seamlessly use paper from the added tray. A great timesaving addition to my MFC-8860DN.
