Much improved
Kudos Microsoft. My last go around with Encare was with the 2004 version. At that time the program had a cluttered clusmey interface. The various modules weren't intuitive or intergrated and it was therefore, confusing and not partuiclarly user friendly. The new interface is quite simple but very powerful. Encarta 2007
I enjoy researching various subjects simply out of intellectual curiosity and find Encarta a useful tool. I'm somewhat overwhelmed by the multimedia offerings but like the chronological updates and appreciate this treatment of current events.

Don't buy it for the Atlas
If you think that getting the latest Encarta means getting the latest data and information... think again. I got this hoping to update my trusty Encarta 2001 installation (which I have just for the wonderful interactive virtual globe.. now somewhat surpassed by Google Earth but still great). Before uninstalling the 2007 version (Encarta won't allow more than one installation on a machine) I took some screenshots from the 2001 Atlas. Having installed the 2007 version, I did some comparisons......

Encarta Users will have no problem using and enjoying the newest version of Encarta - 2007
It is just as informative as the last versions with a lot of extra kicks, like the newest Videos. Recommend at least 1 GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 Processor with a newer Video card (2 Yrs or better)for the best video viewing
It will run on older systems

Very awesome program for adults and chidren,lots of information on the kids encarta.My son is in first grade and he needed to find some information on money from around the world he did it all himself.

Comprehensive and useful
At 3 Gigs it takes up a lot, but it delivers a lot as well. A worthy successor to 2002's version, it is incredubly useful for writers such as myself. A full encyclopeadia in my laptop, comprehensive and intuative, who could ask for more?
You can also update for up to a year, or join the Encarta Club for additional features.

FUN WITH ENCARTA
I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE ENCARTA PROGRAM. NOT ONLY WAS IT EDUCATIONAL, BUT ALSO A LOT OF FUN. THERE ARE PUZZLES, AND GAMES AND OTHER EASY WAYS TO LEARN WHILE ENJOYING IT.
