Great Travel Camera
I did a great deal of research before purchasing this camera because I don't have the time or money that some people apparently have to be doing the eBay revolving door thing. What I came to realize is that, disappointingly, there isn't a clearly superior compact or ultracompact camera out there. There are only cameras with greater or lesser compromises and the trick is finding the one you can live with. The Lumix TZ5 was a good travel companion and turned out to have few flaws.

This is about as good as it gets in a small point and shoot!
I am a bit of a nut NEEDING to have the best small point and shoot there is. Fine little camera, great photos, sturdy build
I usually shoot with a large DSLR so the TZ5 is my first pocket camera While a bit larger than some of the point and shoots on the market it just feels better in my hands than most of the slimmer smaller compacts on the market especially if youreused to using a DSLR. The image quality of the photos is great and the 10X zoom wide-angle Leica lens is terrific. LOVE IT!!!
I also wanted to replace an older canon powershot AND an old canon camcorder. With kids, it needed to fit into my SMALL messenger bag (about 7"x9")along with diapers/wipes, etc. I was leery of the quality of the video, as I had read reviews where they noticed the camera constantly trying to focus on the images. Just A Great, Great Little Camera
I came from a Sony DSC-V1 which was a terrific camera in it's day. It's downfall was a tiny little LCD screen and a limited zoom range that ended at 35mm on the wide end. I wanted a camera that went down to at least 28mm and had a clear, large LCD. I looked at the Canon 870IS and the Nikon P-80 but settled on this. Why? Amazing gadget
What I like about the camerabr1. Small size and light weight. Using only one hand you can turn the camera on take pics zoom shift the knob from camera to video etc... great!br2. Very good product for the size
I was going back and forth from the tz3 predessor and others when saw this one coming out. Worked great on our trip love the range of the camera for such a small size 28mm-280mm WOW. I also wound up using the HD Movie mode very handy. It will not replace a good camcorder but it sure did open alot of possibilities. An Awesome Camera with an Awesome Feature Set
I have used this camera for about a week now and there is NOTHING I could really complain about. The pictures come out super sharp with really accurate colors. The stabilizer is really reliable, and the zoom is fast. The screen is OUTSTANDING....haven't seen anything clearer. I do like the quick zoom function, just press it and it maxes out the zoom for you. The lens is really useful, and the fact that it's still small enough to fit in my jeans pocket makes it a real winner.

Ordered the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5S for the convenience of having a "point & shoot" (P&S) while on vacation in San Diego.
