What can I say that hasn't been said?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer and I was not very happy with Canon's "update" to the venerable 5D. Video? Yeah that's nice to have, but I was very unhappy with the AF performance, shutter black-out and comfort. Anyway, back to the D700.

Tech Level: somewhat low
Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros:
Looks like a good camera
Cons:
Am I missing something or do the specs not mention what kind of storage it uses? Memory Card type is an important spec even if Nikon does not think so
Other Thoughts:
I would hate to buy a new camera only to find out it does not use my SDHC cards and uses CF or xD instead.
Usually Newegg is pretty good about listing that...

Pros:
Uses all my Nikon film lenses. Doesn't magnify the focal length. I use wide angle more than tele. Has all the features that anyone would want. Fantastic in low light.
Cons:
none other than the price could be lower.

A bit bulky.

If the previous reviewer would bother looking at the images, they'd be able to easily tell the camera uses compact flash storage.

What a camera ... simply superb!
Im one of those individuals that thinks 2, 3, 4 or maybe 5 times before buying a camera with this price, so based on the price and type of investment I did my homework, long hours of reading reviews, viewing hundreds of pictures taken with the D700 on Flickr until I decided to buy it 2 weeks ago.
Got the camera from The Shutterbug store bought through Amazon, I bought the refurbished version to save a little over $500 on the camera and dont regret it.
