A bad player
I paid $60 at CC. It was used in our cabin over the past 6 mo. It ran for 50 hours and the HDMI signal failed. Other inputs still working but note that it takes 5 sec to turn ON and it takes 90 sec to tell me that it could not load/play my computer burned movies on any input (HDMI, component, etc.) or at any resolution and could not play some commercial DVDs. During play, it would sometimes hesitate and skip 2 seconds, even on brand new DVDs. DO NOT BUY THIS player at any price and save your self...

Don't Buy...EVER
Do yourself a favor and Don't buy ANY Phillips DVD player. OR RCA for that matter! I have owned Two different Phillips HDMI DVD players and BOTH didn't even last a year before they simply STOPPED working! So I decided last Christmas to get an RCA instead...SAME BS! Stopped working just a few weeks ago! I am tired of putting out good money to replace these cheap usless peices of JUNK EVERY YEAR! I would love to write these companies and tell them I would GLADLY pay more money for a well built pro...

Save yourself, don't buy!
Do not buy this player. We had ours for about a month, after that we returned it and got a new player. We had small problems with it in the first week but we worked fought, so it would play. Most of the time we had problems just getting it to power up, we returned it when we could not get my brand new Alf DVD to play. It is rather slow to load the DVD, we did not want it for much just to play my DVD's. DVD tray is also thin and looks cheap.
The only good thing about the player is...

HDMI went bad
I bought this player about 6 months ago.
The HDMI out went bad on me today. The video went yellow, then totally out. This is a problem that happens a lot. Google it.
The component video still works, so the $40 I spent wasn't a complete bust.

Research before U buy...
...Hell, I knew better than that. I purchased this DVD at Wal-Mart on Saturday morning. It seem to be a small but nice player for my room, but when I plugged it in and started to play movies, I realized the picture was dark, plus what I thought was my DVD disc scratching (it wasn't) the Phillips DVD player had lost signal from my HDMI cord, (and its claiming it to be a 1080p upscale DVD player-more like downscale) and turned itself off. I had a hard time turning it back on to get my disc out. T...

above expectations
My primary reason for purchasing a dvd video player was to download pics and slide show on my 42 in. flat screen. The older dvd/vcr unit was not compatable with new dvd or cd disc's. Many of you have probably had the same experience. The dvd rented movies and slide show family pics are incredible. I didn't use the included cables. I bought a hdmi cable [ because of a review just like this ]. I bought a 15$ cable that was hanging next to a 38$ cable; however my tv is n...

Philips DVD
DvD player is compact and looks good. HDMI connection works well.
In progressive scan mode I couldn't get a full screen. Went back to HDMI.
I have a Phillips Home theater system and the Remotes interact. I solved this problem by covering the infered sensor on the DVD player when not in use.

Mixed feeling
It produced exquisitely super quality wide screen HDMI images both DVD and Jpeg format, MP3 Audio sound was great too .....for 3 weeks. After that it died and I had to return it. If you are lucky enough and if it works then this player can be a good value but the manufacturing quality is dubious so this is a risk item.
