Inexpensive Yet High Quality Phono Preamp
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Recently I sold off my high end stereo preamp and power amp to transition to a multichannel home theater environment. The stereo preamp had a very nice phono stage and after reviewing the specs and prices on countless generic and hybrid phono preamps I decided to take a chance on the ART DJ Pre II. Am I glad I did. Even though I was prepared to drop some serious cash on one of the more...

ART DJ Pre II Phono Preamp
Our Kenwood receiver and turntable are probably 14 or 15 years old in excellent condition, but I upgraded the receiver. As goes technology, the turntable was not compatible with the new receiver.
The ART DJ Pre II Phono Preamp was just what my home theater sales associate recommended, not by brand, but he told me what I needed and boy was it the ticket.
I just plugged it in and I was back in action.
User friendly for the over 50, excellent product.

Great value..........
I'm really happy with this puppy. My records never sounded so good and I especially like the input gain control. My old preamp only had a low-med-high gain switch which didn't allow precise input levels. If you use different cartridges/turntables, you'll appreciate the gain control.
Not exactly sure what the capacitance switch does as I can't tell any difference in either setting. It may help with some cartridges. The rumble filter might work with some turntables but doesn't seem...

Great little black box, great value
I bought this product several months ago to transfer my LPs to digital files. The preamp produces a clean amplification, with the added benefit of several tunning options. With Gain Trim you can adjust the amplification according to the volume of the source.
You can also adjust the Input Capacity to either 100 and 200 pFarads.
One of the most useful setting it has is a Low Cut (High Pass) filter that allows all frequencies above 80 Hz to pass while blocking lower frecuenc...

Art DJ II Phono Preamp
Great solution to the missing phono input on most of today's receivers. Plug and play. Works great.

excellent value and very good performance
A well made and nicely engineered product that is a bargain for under fifty dollars . The ART phono preamp sounds much better than the phono input on my Pioneer Receiver. I wish the ART folks would market a more expensive and higher quality model that you could upgrade to if desired .

Great Little Preamp
I just received this little gem today, and after I fired it up and listened to some classic rock on vinyl, all I can say is "wow". S/N ratio is great, no noticeable 60 HZ hum, and a great looking little high quality package. I got this for use with a spare input with my Yamaha C-45 preamp, as the phono circuit on the preamp was a little on the noisy side.
I was not disappointed at all. You really can't go wrong for the money.
Jan, 2009 update: My only real complaint...

Gets the job done...
I've had this pre for about six months now. I have to say that it is convenient and was an easy fix to not having a pre-amp in any of my other equipment. So in lieu of buying something more expensive with a better pre onboard, I decided to opt for this. My main reason for it is personal listening and to sample vinyl for my productions.
I am satisfied with my purchase. I think I paid about $50 delivered from Amazon.
It arrived quickly and well packed, but when I opened ...

Good basic preamp
I've had this preamp about a month. Initial setup was straightforward. I appreciate the grounding lug, I haven't experienced any problem with hum. The input light associated with the gain control changes to red on clipping, so you can adjust the gain control for the current record. I really like this feature, but I wish the output before clipping were a little higher -- on most records I run the amplifier 3-6 db higher than with typical CD input.
The sound seems very good, there...

Service was EXCELLENT
Wish I could tell you about the gain, sound quality, ease of use etc. Unfortunately, I can't because mine was DOA. I guess I'll have to see how they are with returns. I'll update the review after I go through the return process.
UPDATE:I contacted them about the first pre amp being DOA. They returned my call immediately, sent a replacement with a pre paid Fed Ex return label. I had my working pre amp in less than a week. Now that ii have the pre amp-it works great. The build qual...
