This is the percolator to get!
First of all, perked coffee is the way to go. If you love coffee, you will never have a hotter, better cup of coffee that the perked method.
Once you have decided to go the perked way, do yourself a favor and get this model. I had the Melita percolator, and it just didn't have any staying power. It started making irregular coffee after about a couple of months (temperature not consistent, not heating up correctly, making poor coffee) until finally the glass bulb on top just broke off...

it's a lemon. don't buy it!
had one for over ten years, loved it. now they're made in china and i've had to buy 2 in the last year. i'm an aircraft mechanic and the thermostat has failed. it's a 5 dollar part and farberware refuses to sell the part or even identify the part number for it. if the coffemaker is within 18 months of the datecode on the bottom they'll replace it. what a waste of time and effort!! if i had the part i could fix it in ten minutes. farberwares' customer service reps on the phone are the worst. you ...

Better Than Drip
I've had my percolator for six months, and I'll never go back to drip coffee maker. This is simple and fast, and the coffee has a little more flavor. Make sure the cord is plugged into the percolator before you plug it into, or pull it out of the outlet. You might cause an electrical shortage if you plug the cord into the wall first.

Poor quality percolator
If I could, I would give a "zero" star rating for this product. I purchased this Farberware percolator in April, 2001. It makes good coffee, but the base cracked one day after making coffee. I always took good care of the percolator, including carefully washing it by hand, so it didn't crack because of abuse. It was just sitting on my kitchen counter when it cracked. It was 1/3 full with coffee after making a pot 15 minutes earlier. It is the second time this has happened to me. ...

The Best Coffee
I bought my first Farberware Percolator about 3 years ago. That one only lasted one and a half years. I went back to a drip machine but could'nt get used to the flavor. I then purchased another Farberware and I have been very happy since. I love the taste of the coffee. While I realize nothing is made to last anymore, if my current one dies I will soon replace it with another Faberware Percolator.

Replace the PLUG, not the WHOLE PERCOLATOR!!!
I too was nervous when my two-year-old percolator didn't start right up when plugged in... or when I returned to my percolator after an hour to discover luke-warm coffee. It turns out the solution cost me $3.39 at my local hardware store! It's a two foot appliance cord (made specifically for coffee makers and small appliances). If your percolator is not working, first try replacing the appliance cord, before investing in a whole new $40.00 coffee maker. By the way, the coffee brewed in my pe...

Love it!
We just love this percolator. It is not only dependable, won't drip water all over your countertop, great tasting hot coffee everytime, smells wonderful, makes a nice nostalgic percolating sound, it looks so cute! We will not go back to the space age, pods or drips or caraf's that take hours to program and takes up all your counter space, that is if you can fit it under your cabinets. This baby has them all beat.

'ol faithful brews a reliable, delicious cup of joe
I've happilly enjoyed Farberware's larger 20-cup electric percolator that is still brewing some wonderful coffee after 10 years. All I had to replace was the electric cord, which petered out after 3 years.I've had this model for a few months and think that it will also last a long, long time (don't know about the cord, though). This machine looks terrifically retro, is easy to clean and keeps the coffee consistenly hot for hours. After tasting coffee here, you won't go back to your old dri...
