Good card -- works fantastic

Pros: Works like a charm --- i got the latest drivers from the realtek site, and so far --- its been nothing short of fantastic!
Cons: having to scour the internet for the drivers. it is a shame tha hawking didnt update the drivers on their website.... loss of star for that bonehead move :P
Other Thoughts: let me not use the onboard network port on my p5p800-se.....

Comments: This thing is TINY. Doesn't block much airflow. Worked with no issues under Gentoo, kernel 2.6.8 (Just check "Realtek 8169 gigabit ethernet support" under 1000 Mbit ethernet adapters). Cons: impossible for it to reach 2000Mbps
Other Thoughts: what people need to know is that 2000Mbps is in bits per second, and there are 8 bits in a byte, so its 2000/8 being 250MBps, thats in bytes per second. But its almost pointless, because pci slots have a max transferspeed of 133MB/s, which is slightly more than half of the 2000Mbps...

If you look closely at the NIC's chip you can see it is really a Realtek 8169S-32 and you can get the driver from here:

Great Card, Simple Installation
This is a high-performance networking card that is extremely easy to install. Bear in mind that Windows does not have the driver needed to use the card already, so you have to insert the CD that comes with it. That's as difficult as it is, so long as you don't mind cracking open your case to install it in an empty PCI slot.

Flaky in my Apple systems

Cons: CD Drivers are outdated. no drivers on hawking's site
