Good camera but be careful with the battery
Camera is good but it comes with a battery that last for 1 hour. You can buy an extra battery but... BE CAREFUL!... For instance I bought the NP-FH70 battery which according to what is advertised the package it would last for 6.5 hours but actually itlast just for 4 hours If you see the comments of this battery you will see that other people has the same opinion.brbrGood Luck!

Nice camcorder - but not top of the line
I bought this camcorder after doing some research online and am pleased with the video quality and the ease of use. As one reviewer stated, I was hoping for the video quality to be perfect but it will never be unless I am willing to shell out $1500 for a top of the line camcorder.

Worse quality than 1995 canon 8mm.
This is my first camera. I thought that nowadays camcorder technology would have been better than the 1990s. Low light shooting is almost impossible. Without the night shot mode which only works about 5 feet away the picture quality is that of my Palm mobile phone. In the day time the camera works much better. Hard Drive Failure
I really wanted to like this camcorder. I've had Sony products in the past and the quality has always impressed me ever since I got my first Sony Walkman. Good for price, but grainy still pics
This is a great little camera for the price, but be forewarned: it will not replace your digital still camera. The maximum setting for stills is 640 x 480. This is one of the lowest settings on my Canon A540. The SR45 is about half the price of my old 8mm, so I wish now that I had spent $100-$200 more for the SR65 or SR85 which both have higher quality settings. Compact, But Not Perfect
I bought this camera as a replacement for a VHS-C camera that I never did manage to use because it was just too cumbersome. The HandyCam SR45 is certainly small -- it fits in my purse! But it does have a few flaws I wish I had realized before purchasing.

Playback is NOT grainy as another review stated. The playback picture and sound are excellent. No there is no remote but I am not sure why I would need one. I bought this camera 2 weeks ago and I must say, it's really neat. The quality of the camera while recording at first was a little less than I expected it to be, but that's because I had the recording mode in LP (medium quality) so I put it at the highest (HQ) and everything looked fine.

Very compact camcorder
I just needed a very compact camcorder to get rid of my bulky Hi8 SONY camcorder. I love this camcorder. It is easy to use. Only problem is that it does not have a view finder and you might need it at times to save battery or shoot at a sunny place.
