Cute overpriced toy, but nothing more - Here's a NO-BRAINER alternative

Button is the barrier

I purchased the Flip Video Cam in Oct 2008. I always do a good deal of research before buying something - both on Amazon and elsewhere on the web. And I am tech savvy.

The main problem with the camcorder is the button. Other reviewers have mentioned this - specifically that you need to press hard. So easy, anyone can use it. So small & cheap, take it anywhere

I've owned this since January 2008, and have found it invaluable - it's so easy to use & so portable & cheap that I can take it anywhere and put it anyone's hands and they can use it. It was great...until it wasn't

I used it six times. Six times. I liked the quality, I liked the size and everything about it, until it stopped working. It would not power on on the seventh try and I tried holding the button down, resetting it as the troubleshooting suggests, and nothing. I'm glad it was a gift, but upset that I got such little use out of it. It wasn't expensive and I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. It could have been a great product. I can't endorse it however. Six times.

Software and Support Problems

I loved the concept of the Flip Video and taking videos was as promised. My problem came when the software on the flip would not automatically load as promised on the PC. It didn't work on a MAC, a Gateway running Vista, and a Dell running Windows. I love the concept of this camcorder

I bought this camera and absolutely loved it. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't record for a very long period of time. Then I found the RCA small wonder, and saw that the RCA took an SD card, and it was also less expensive. So off I went to purchase the RCA Small Wonder. I found that both of these cameras are very similar, the video quality with the Flip Video Camera was a little better, but not by much. Simple, easy and for the price, a deal!

Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 30-Minutes (White)
I took this on a trip to Brazil and it worked like a charm. It's easy to use - just point and shoot. I did find that the self-contained software - which launched very easily on my Mac and on friends Macbooks - didn't seem to easily transfer into iMovie or iPhoto. So editing is a pain. But for the price and the ease of use, it's a good trade off.

Really nice little camera

Easy to use, convenient to bring, and video quality really is pretty darn good. Uses 2 AA batteries which is a plus for me since I have rechargeable ones.
