Life saver for an EE student
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: This calculator is an invaluable tool for anyone in very high level math and/or engineering courses. I got this calculator Freshman year of college as an EE student, and every semester I have been finding more and more new uses for it. It was not until late Sophomore/Junior year that I realized why this calculator is so helpful to EE’s in particular. It comes with a program called EEPro that hel...

The only calculator you'll ever need in your life
I was debating whether to get a Ti-84 Plus or the Ti-89 Titanium. Most of you are probably in the same situation. Of course, with the Ti-89 Titanium is it more money, but the extra features include a bigger resolution, more RAM and ROM, and much more. I decided to get the Ti-89 Titanium -- and I don't regret it at all.
This is a power house. Plug in any calculus question, it will give you the answer. It will also show you steps on how to solve it. This is great for AP Calculus. Not on...

Very good functions.
I recently got this calculator and I was inpressed by what all it could do. The layout of the new button design is nice and the USB port makes transfering data from Calculator to Calculator or from Calculator to PC very easy. This calculator runs at 12 mhz, but the 84 beats it at 15 mhz silver edition. I would really not consider speed a factor but if were really looking on the difference in miliseconds or seconds I guess you would.
Pros Good button layout. Plastic face plate and...

Top of the line for almost everyone
The TI-89 Titanium replaces my TI-83. Some people have said if you aren't going to take Calculus then don't bother getting the TI-89 because it's more complicated. I disagree. I've had it less than a day, and without reading the manual, I did 1-var stats, took the nth root power, solved an equation, and did a factorial. I think it's intuitive enough, and a big improvement functionally. At some point, I'll take Calc and above, so I won't need to learn a new calculator at the same time.

The titanium choice!--well it kinda sounded like a good slogan...
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) There isn't alot I can say about this calculator which hasn't been discussed by previous reviewers. I, like the majority of them, and probably you the reader, have an 83 and got into a calculus course, or calculus-intensive course, and realized that the 83 was no longer going to cut it. Well I got the 89 from amazon and since that day the 83 began to look more and more primitive...sigh....

Great Calculator
Great for advanced math, physics, and chemistry. Tons of ram, plenty of data storage, and excellent cpu (as far as calcs go.)
Also, if you find anything you can't do with the functions and flash apps available from the ti website, download a 3rd-party application. The best place for these is ticalc.org.
There are a plethora of third-party addons including:
games (both 2d and 3d)
a gameboy emulator (called gb68k)
an ebook reader and about...

Great Calculator
Before I bought a TI-89 Titanium, I had used a TI-83 Plus for four years. After taking calculus and learning about limits, derivatives, integrals, infinite series, Taylor series, differential equations, and multivariable functions, I decided that I would look for a calculator which was capable of symbolic computation. After analyzing my options, I decided on a TI-89 Titanium. The TI-89 Titanium is able to expand polynomials, factor polynomials, and do all of the calculus techniques that I mentio...

A great calculator though still some flaws
The TI-89 titanium is a very good calculator. I also own a HP-49G and the TI is way better; the interface is so well defined... it's almost as a desktop. Compare that to the HP-49G... it's like the command-line interface! There are a couple of but's though: First of all, the "2nd" labels on top of the keys are in a soft blue, almost unreadable. This is a very big design flaw. Second, I don't like the screen a lot. Sure, it's large. Sure, you can set contra...

For calculus and beyond, perfect! Anything below calculus, this is too much!
After using a TI-83 Plus calculator for the last 5 years, I decided to upgrade to the TI-89 Titanium. This calculator is unbelievable in its features and power. First of all, it is more suited for advanced math, such as calculus and beyond. This calculator is NOT meant for high schoolers who are taking algebra, geometry or trig classes. If you don't know what a derivative or an integral is, then save your money and buy a TI-84 instead. (Besides, I believe most high school math teachers ban the ...

TI-89 Titanium For Statistics
Pros: - The display has a Pretty Print option (default), which is very helpful when inputting long formulas. - Great for Statistics, which is why I bought it in the first place since that is my major in college.
Cons: - This is important if you are a college student. The math and statistics books all refer to the TI-83 when explaining how to perform the calculations using a calculator. So while the teacher is talking out loud walking the students step by step on how to ...
