Didn't work for me
 
I normally have great signal strength indoors, but as soon as I move my laptop onto the porch, I drop down to 1 bar, so I bought this. I cannot tell you if it improved my inside signal since I had 5 bars before it, but I can tell you it didn't do one bit of good for my outdoor signal. And we're talking about 60 feet here. I live in a mobile home so I don't know if the wall material makes any difference. This buy was a waste of money for me.

Mail-in rebate turns out to be a scam
 
I bought this antenna from buy.com and I submitted the rebate form along with the original receipt and UPC. My claim was denied by D-Link on the grounds that the submitted UPC was not from a qualifying product. My attempts to contact D-Link concerning this issue remained unanswered. A week after I received my denial card from D-Link, my upstairs neighbor received a nearly identical rebate denial card for a product they bought from a company called VineOne. The card is basically the same as mine...

Very satisfied
 
After reading the long list of reviews, I decided to buy it for my HP Slimline HTPC that lies flat in the cabinet under my 37" LCD TV. It gets WiFi from a wireless router across 3 interior walls at a roughly 30 degree angle, and used to get 1-2 bars (usually Fair, only sometimes Good). This is with the stubby antenna hidden behind the PC and also blocked by a DVD player and a DISH Network receiver. The D-Link external antenna improved the signal strength to 4-5 bars (Very Good to Excellent)...

Seems to work
 
I received this yesterday and plugged it into my wireless card. My signal went immediately from fair to excellent but it still gets dropped. The computer and the wireless router are in the same room except that the router is on the table and the computer is under the same table. I will monitor for a while.
