Good, but not fool proof
Everyone knows that making good bread is as much an art as it is a science. You MUST be exact in your measurements if you want to be able to make good bread, repeatably, with good results, but a machine. When making the dough by hand, most bakers learn the "feel" of when the dough is ready and the proportions are right. This is hard do if using any bread machine, and most novice bakers haven't developed this skill.
With this being known, ANY AND ALL bread maker is fully capable of ...

The best bread I've made from a machine
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I bought this Panasonic bread maker to replace an older Oster 5838 ExpressBake Breadmaker, White. I had been happy with the Oster and would still recommend that model; however, all the good reviews of this machine convinced me to give this a try instead.
Hands down, this bread maker bakes the best bread I've ever had out of a machine. I've owned bread machines ever since th...

Dumb software, reliable hardware
I've used the SD-YD250 hundreds of times over the last 2 years and it still shows no significant signs of wear. Overall, the product is a five star because of its reliability and labor-saving convenience. I've used it equally for baking bread and making pizza dough. It can also save a lot of money, provided you purchase the yeast in bulk (for example 2lb). The single use yeast packages which are typically the only buying option at American supermarkets cost 20 times more per gram. Particularly g...

This Panasonic Bread Maker is excellent!
This model is much better than our first Panasonic bread maker which we sold when we moved two years ago. The quality of the loaves the selection features and the smell of freshly baking bread make this a good choice for anyones kitchen. The recipes included with the unit provide numerous opportunities to bake a bread to suit your tastes or meal planning. We are only two so we especially like the option to make a smaller loaf. We like fresh bakery bread but prices have dictated that this purcha...

Happy owner for already over 3 years
Tech Level: high Ownership: more than 1 year Pros: We use this machine everyday...for over three years already. My family traditionally eats bread, and compared to anything else , Panasonic makes the best bread.
Cons: No such. I hope they'll not discontinue the bread machines. I bought mine for 150 long time ago and it was worth the price.
Other Thoughts: You can use this for many many kinds of breads. It works ...

Great for original recipes
Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: I grew up eating solid bread. By that I don't mean something hard but a bread of some substance, as opposed to the flimsy bread you find at the store. As in if you hold the bread by the edges, the middle of it isn't going to droop down.
The first bread I made with this here machine is somewhat complex in that it has virtually no equivalent in the supe...

Works great for whole wheat breads too
I have had this machine for a year now, and use it almost exclusively for rapid bake/whole wheat breads. Every bread just pops right out and looks and tastes great. Very sturdy design, no problems at all.

Disappointing
I received this bread machine as a Christmas gift. Our old machine is 12 yrs old and the motor is starting to make funny noises, though it still runs, so my husband thought we needed a new one and chose this Panasonic based on several good reviews.
I tried 4 different recipes in the book that came with it, to try out the different operating modes ... basic, whole wheat, pizza dough, and rapid. The 3 that were baked were burned on the bottom half of the loaf and scorched on the botto...

Terrible Bread
This machine is NOT a product I would recommend. I have used another brand machine for years, however this year the kneading pin was tossed out hence a replacement was in order. After reading about the various models, I selected Panasonic. What's NOT to like, well here goes: the recipe measurements are inaccurate, the machine lacks a window to check on progress, the machine has consistently produced unbaked, half-baked and under baked bread. On-line recommendations have been to 'peek' at...

Don't leave it unattended!
You would think that a bread machine with a timer option is meant to work without being watched every minute, but not this one. The first time I used it, it jumped off the counter and crashed to the floor, broke and is now useless. I can only imagine that it jumped around while it was kneading the dough (unlike the last machine I had, this one has only one paddle) and worked its way over the edge of counter. What poor engineering!
