Pretty neat!
I'm a thirty-something adult that purchased this item just for a little personal fun and found it to work exactly as described. I was able to complete my art project easily with plenty of "ink" to spare. The fact that it contained *two* pens worked quite well for me, as I was able to use one pen to shine the blacklight while simultaneously drawing with the second pen. True, the package is a little pricey, but I am overall very pleased.

Good Buy
Durability: Fun: Educational: This Christmas gift was given to my Neice(7) at a family gathering. She opened it and tossed it aside, only to come back to it at the end. She wrote notes the rest of the day on the backs of Christmas cards, and had a blast. I saw her last night, and she was excited to tell me that she had given one to her friend so that they could trade notes. You can pretty well forget about the secret paper/note inside. Fun!
This was a gift for my daughter and nephew. My daughter loves to write secret messages on the paper. The light is small, but it is a fun toy!

Kind of fun.
Durability: Fun: Educational: A gift for my 13 year old cousin. He liked them, and it was a fun stocking stuffer. He thought they were pretty fun. The writing isn't as bright as I expected it to be when you shine the black light on it.

great secret message toy
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) My son is 6 and has had a lot of fun writing secret messages with friends and then seeing them in the dark with the pen. They do not use the paper hidden within the pen, but enjoy it none the less.

Spy Gear is "AWESOME!"
Durability: Fun: Educational: Just have to add my 2 cents here that just about all Spy Gear gets great reviews from kids! They LOVE it! Mine are 2 little girls, and they have gone crazy over theirs in the past. This is something they don't want to share, so do your best (and fork it over) to get each kid his/her own! It will save you a few headaches, trust me! We had these pens in the past. Even if they don't use the little paper strips, they still will us...
