As advertised
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I've never spent this much for shoes before but have been pleasently pleased with these. The bottoms of my feet were hurting after runs with my old shoes so I invested in these. I only run apx 10-12 miles a week but can tell a big difference. No pain. Money well spent in my opinion. Oh yea, and I LIKE the conservative grey shoes!

From 991 to 992
The 992 is probably the shoe with the most comfort and support. If you are buying a 992 because you can no longer find the 991, you will have to shave off at least a half size. The 992 is wider at the toe, so you do not need the extra space. I ordered my usual size for a 991, but it was like a boat, so I sent it back for a half size smaller. I could "maybe" go with a full size smaller, but I am not certain. Beyond that, it is as fine a shoe as the 991.

Comfortable
I've had these running shoes awhile now and after a lot of wear, they are still in grear shape.
They arre very, very comfortable.
In the summer I don't feel that my feet get overheated. And I wear them hiking in winter time too.
I highly recommend these shoes.

Not too bad of a Shoe
If you are new to the New Balance 99X line then you wont notice that these shoes are stiffer than the 991's. The 991's were the Cadillac of running shoes, your could wear them ALL day and suffer very little fatigue. The 992's have a stiffer sole and the overall quality of the shoe seems like it will last longer. The 991 had some cheaper plastic parts that liked to crack and fall off.
991 pros; comfortable, the better running shoe, cheaper
992 pros; not quite as comfortable...

Do not buy these shoes for running!
I have run in a pair of 991s for the last 5 years. I was disappointed to hear that the 991 was replaced by the 992. I purchased a pair of 992 hoping for similar comfort and fit. The 992s are nice to look at, but the similarities stop there. The fit is horrible even after going down from a D to a B width. The cushioning I've come to love in the 991 is simiply not there in the 992. I had a New Balance representative tell me point blank that he wouldn't recommend the 992 for running at all. ...

I ran in the 990,991 and now the 992. Same shoe just a little bit better. Only shoe I will trust as I get older a little slower and heavier. NB sent the wrong size and when I returned them they sent out my EE within a week. Great company and a great shoe.

992 vs 991
I'm a 56 year old 200# 6'1 pronator with flat feet and left leg 1/2" shorter than right leg. The 991 was my first running show and I wore it out in a little over 6 months at about 500 miles or so or walking/running.The 992 has more cushioning and is holding up better. The Plastic stuff on the back of the 991 just fell apart. I still have the 991's for alternate days and wear them on short runs or walks. The 992's do 4-6 mi comfortabley for me. They are wider than the 991. Both are 11 1/2D....

992'S are a horrible shoe, beware, make sure you can return them
I absolutely agree with Brett A. Warner these replacements feel horrible . They don't have the instant great feeling you got when you put the 991's on. I bought them at a local store which did not take returns. So they just sit in the closet. If you do purchase these make sureyou can return them because you will. I wear a 11 1/2 B

Heavy Weight of Running Shoes
This is the standard for all those who have running problems such as pronation, wide feet, and over 190 pounds. Designed to prevent injury. Heavy and solid in construction, not designed for the sprinter, more like the linebacker who runs. Good for around running 220 miles. Maintains heel, ankle, knee, hip alignment with heel shank. Not a trail shoe.

Mens New balance 992
Only running shoe still made in america, the 992 and 1223 series from new balance.
especially made for people with flat feet.
You will know this if you run or jog and you tend to land on the outside of your foot and roll inwards towards the arch.
very comfortable also jsut wear around the house and office.
